Jagr’s first visit to his former home was widely anticipated! The 1st period was a stalemate, then Peter Bondra scored first for the good guys in the 2nd. The flightless fowl responded harshly with three goals in less than seven minutes, followed by another just a minute into the 3rd period. Another pair of Caps goals from Bonzai and Sergei Gonchar weren’t enough, and the Caps left Steel City down 4-3.

Trip Itinerary
The Caps Road Crew will be hitting the road by bus traveling to Pittsburgh to see the Caps take on bitter rivals Mario Lemieux and the Pittsburgh Penguins, in Jaromir Jagr’s first game back in Pittsburgh since the trade, at the Mellon Arena on Friday, December 21, 2001 at 7:30 pm.
The CRC will make arrangements for bus transportation and group tickets. Unfortunately, due to the great demand for tickets to this game, we will not be able to provide tickets to those who do not travel on the bus with the Crew.
Current plans- The Crew will be meeting at a yet to be determined location at 12:45 pm on the 21st and the bus will leave no later than 1:00 pm. We’ll arrive in downtown Pittsburgh around 6:30 pm, just in time to head inside and catch warmups before the 7:30 pm drop of the puck. The Crew bus will be returning to the D.C. area immediately following the game (expected arrival back in D.C. by 3:30 am). While the exact cost of the trip has yet to be determined, the estimated cost for the trip should be around $120 per person ($45 bus expense and $75 for the game ticket). No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus and time constraints will most likely prevent us from making any stops on the way down. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/TV units.
As we need to make ticket arrangements ASAP, trip reservations must be placed by Friday, August 31, 2001 at noon.
