20 years ago today, the Crew made an epic bus trip to Raleigh alongside five buses of DC101 Simon’s Soldiers. A then-Hurricane goalie and future-Capitals goalie coach gave up a goal on a penalty shot by Joe Sacco to open the scoring for our boys. For today’s #TriviaTue question, name him.

On this day in 2002 (!), the Crew made its first trip to Columbus, soon to be a favorite destination. Willie O’Ree dropped the ceremonial first puck and the 5-2 win included a career-first goal by a Caps rookie. For today’s #TriviaTue question, name him.

Congratulations to Dennis Clarke on being the first one in with the correct answer.  Ilya Samsonov was the Bears starting goaltender for this game with Vitek Vanacek serving as backup.  This great pair were soon to get the call up to mind the nets for the Caps.

Trivia Tuesday Answer for March 9th

Congratulations to Beth Dunn on being the first one in with the correct answer.  Scott Stevens, a long-time Capital and Devil defenseman, was honored as the NHL’s all-time leader among d-men in games played. No one knew that night that their captain had played his last game just ten days prior.

With NJ on the Caps schedule for tonight, we’re checking out a memorable NJ game from our schedule. On January 17, 2004, a busload of fans rode up to CAA, a blah-grey cement tomb where fun went to die.  But on this day, the Devils honored a future HHOF-er who was also a Caps great.  For today’s #TriviaTue question, name him.

Congratulations Greg Christian on being the first one in with the correct answer. It came as a surprise to everyone, including himself, that Joe Reekie (pictured) scored the first goal in this game.  It was one of two he scored all season. In case you missed the news, every Tuesday we’ll put forth a trivia question via our homepage in the morning and on social media at noon using the hashtag, #TriviaTue. The answers can all be found on our website and shouldn’t be very hard.
