March madness in Canes country !

Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes
March 21, 2009 | RBC Center | Raleigh, North Carolina
Bus Trip

Our final trip of the season took a large contingent of Caps fans to see the last matchup with the Hurricanes. Over a hundred guests made the trip and were treated to a fantastic pre-game party with games and a tailgate spread that would put the locals to shame. The fun continued until the Canes, aided by one-sided officiating, beat the Caps 4-1.

Trip Itinerary

The CapsRoadCrew will be heading south down I-95 by bus, making our annual trek to the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, to see the Caps take on our Southeast Division rival, the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 7:00 pm. This will be the final season showdown, the last 4-point game, for these divisional rivals, so it’s sure to be intense.

The CRC has made arrangements for bus transportation and lower bowl group tickets.

Current plans: The Crew will meet at Springfield Mall (in Virginia) and the bus will depart promptly at 10:30 am. We have decided to arrive in Carolina in time to join the local Caps fans for some tailgating! We expect to arrive at the arena in Raleigh by approximately 3 pm, enjoy a few hours tailgating, and have plenty of time to catch warmups before the 7 pm game.

The Crew bus will be returning home immediately following the game with an expected arrival back in Springfield around 2 am. The cost of the trip is $105 per person, which includes your lower bowl game ticket and bus transportation. No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus but time permitting we may make a stop on the way. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/TV units.

We will be taking two buses to Carolina, with a total of 100 spaces available. For payment information and further details on this trip, please e-mail info@capsroadcrew.com

Washington Capitals at Tampa Bay Lightning
February 14, 2009 | St. Pete Times Forum | Tampa Bay, Florida

The first half of our Valentine’s Day weekend trip took the Crew to see the Caps play the Lightning. It was an historic game with Michael Neuvirth getting his first NHL start and Mike Green setting a new NHL record for most consecutive games with a goal by a defenseman.

Some of our group got on the local broadcast after Mike Green scored the record-setting goal. The footage ended up on Hockey Night in Canada! Check it out here.

A Hundred Years of Habs Hockey!

Washington Capitals at Montreal Canadiens
January 10, 2009 | Bell Centre | Montreal, Quebec

Some Crew regulars met up with some Montreal Caps fans for a game against the Habs. The teams were evenly matched until Sergei Kostitsyn scored the game winner with 21 seconds left in the third, beating the Caps 5-4.

Thoughts from regular Roadie, Bryan:
Hello all…

I wanted to share some of my thoughts and observations of the game experience.

Attached is the only pic (of the game) that I took in Montreal. There’s a fricken Habs fan on the phone. WTF? I did not tell him to get off the phone.

Most of their fans were “leaners.” I would say I saw about 1/3 of them on their cell phones with some regularity. They were very good about not getting up during play.

They did the wave. Twice. (OK, it might have been more times than that.)

The arena is STEEP and HUGE. Kinda like a warehouse, though. I thought it would be a lot more modern.

Their safety nets go all the way to the top (or at least to the bottom of the suspended press box.)

It was loud. EVERYONE was into the game (except for that whole phone thing).

Every seat seemed to be obstructed by the person’s head in front of you…even when they weren’t leaning. Because of the guy in the pic, I couldn’t see our goal for most of the game if I sat normally in my seat. He had a huge melon.

Their main concourse is so crowded it is hard to walk through pre- and post game. I’m guessing it’s the same during intermission.

Club level concourse was crowded, too. It wasn’t as bad as the first level, but still hard to get anywhere. Lucky the beer, food and facilities were all nearby. VC’s [Verizon Center’s] concourses are spacious compared to Bell Center’s.

Their fans were all pretty nice, though largely they ignored us. I certainly never felt intimidated by them and didn’t sense animosity like one might in Philly or Jersey or even in VC when the teams like the Pens/Buffalo come to town. There was very little mocking like you might get in other places.

The guy at customs was shocked when I told him I was coming to see the game. He asked which team I was a fan of. For a second, I thought he wasn’t going to let me into the country. I should have asked him to put an immigration stamp on my ticket.

It was an unbelievable trip and and an amazing experience. I’d do it again for sure.

Trip Itinerary

The Caps Road Crew is heading up to the Bell Centre to see the Caps take on the Eastern Conference Champion Montreal Canadiens for a Saturday night matchup on January 10th at 7 pm.

The CRC has made arrangements for club level group tickets however individual transportation and lodging plans are up to those attending. We are very excited to be able to offer this rare opportunity to attend a game in the hockey-mad city of Montreal in their centennial season.

Current plans: The Crew will meet at the Bell Centre for warmups at 6 pm. We have acquired club level seats that include unlimited food and non-alcoholic drinks for $150 each. No extra fees over the cost of the ticket will be charged.

Be sure to get your reservation in asap to guarantee your spot alongside the other Caps fans making the trip.

Give the gift of hockey in Philly!

Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers
December 20, 2008 | Wachovia Center | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Bus Trip

The Caps’ first meeting against the Flyers since the 2008 Playoffs was our first visit to Wachovia Center since Coach Boudreau’s first game behind the bench. We had the same suite as before, but the open bar and buffet did little to assuage the pain of the 7-1 drubbing the Caps experienced.
It was a fun trip despite the game.

Trip Itinerary

The Caps Road Crew will be traveling to Philadelphia, PA for a little pre-holiday showdown with the Flyers!

We will be hitting the road by bus to the Wachovia Center to cheer on the Caps as they take on our longtime conference rival, the Flyers, at 1 pm. This is the first meeting for these two teams since the playoffs and should prove to be a great game. We have acquired club level suite seats for this game (the same we had last season and for playoff game 4) and with the Flyers treating us to an open bar and buffet, tailgating will not be necessary.

This trip was VERY popular last season and sold out before the regular season even began. The Flyers front office always arranges for some exciting and unique perks for our group and those they are working on for this game sound like a blast also.

The CRC has made arrangements for bus transportation and group tickets. We also have a VERY limited number of extra tickets to the game. If you don’t require bus transportation, are a DC area Caps fan, and would like to join the group, please email us ASAP at info@capsroadcrew.com to make arrangements.

Current plans: The Crew will be meeting at Greenbelt metro station (inner loop of the beltway in Maryland at Exit 24) at 9a.m. on December 20th; the bus will depart at approximately 9:15 a.m. We’ll arrive at the Wachovia Complex by 11:30a.m., in plenty of time to head inside and catch warmups before the 1:00 p.m. drop of the puck. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area as soon as possible following the game (expected arrival back in Greenbelt around 8:30 pm). The subway will be open in time for both our departure and return and we encourage our guests to make use of it if convenient.

Our seats are excellent and with bus transportation, the cost for the trip will be $225 per person, the same as last season. No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus and time constraints will most likely prevent us from making any stops on the way. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/tv units.

Please get your reservation in ASAP to guarantee your spot on the CRC bus! A reservation should be considered a firm commitment as it will be used to finalize the group plans and others’ reservations. We have space and tickets available for 50 people. Full payment will be due at the time of reservation but absolutely no later than December 1st.. To reserve your spot on the bus, or for more information, please e-mail info@capsroadcrew.com. (Please specify number of seats/tickets needed.)

Caps fans rock the Rock!

Washington Capitals at New Jersey Devils
November 15, 2008 | Prudential Center | Newark, New Jersey
Bus Trip

The back end of a home and home against the Devils brought the CRC to our first visit to The Rock. A busload of fans traveled to Newark to see an edge-of-your-seat matchup. A last second tie courtesy of Alex Ovechkin capped off an incredible game and a wonderful night, despite the Caps losing in the shootout. A memorable time was had by all!

The Caps Road Crew will be traveling to Newark, NJ for an early season showdown with the Devils!

We will be hitting the road by bus to the Prudential Center to cheer on the Caps as they take on Marty Brodeur and the NJ Devils at 7pm. This is our first trip to the Rock and finally, the Devils haven’t relegated us to sitting in the rafters.

The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area as soon as possible following the game (expected arrival back in Greenbelt around 1a.m). The Metro will be open in time for both our departure and return and we encourage our guests to make use of it if convenient.

Our seats are excellent and with bus transportation, the cost for the trip will be $125 per person. No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged.
