March Madness...with the Caps!

Washington Capitals at New York Islanders
March 10, 2007 | Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum | Uniondale, New York

Our final road trip of the season took us to Nassau Memorial Coliseum to see the Caps take on the Islanders. Several separate caravans of Caps fans descended upon Croxley Ale Pub before the game for a wing feast and happy hour, then met up at the arena for some hockey. Carvel ice cream sundaes and White Castle burgers may have been the highlight of the trip, as the Islanders beat the Caps 5-2.

Trip Itinerary

The Caps will go head to head against the New York Islanders at Nassau Memorial Coliseum for their fourth meeting of the season in our final CRC trip of the year. No fuss, no muss, and no bus. The CRC will make arrangements for group tickets, however individual transportation and lodging arrangements will be up to anyone attending.

Current plans: The Crew will be meeting up at the Coliseum before warmups at 6:00 pm. The puck drops at 7:00 pm. The cost of the trip is $54 per person for a lower bowl ticket. No extra fees or money over the cost of the game ticket will be charged.

Ticket arrangements have been made for a limited number of seats. Please get your reservation in ASAP to guarantee your spot alongside the other Caps fans who are making the trip. A reservation should be considered a firm commitment and a deposit may be required. The seats are excellent, so the drive will be worth it. For payment information and further details on this trip, please e-mail the trip coordinator at info@capsroadcrew.com and include the trip destination in the subject line.

The Devils made us do it...

Washington Capitals at New Jersey Devils
February 24, 2007 | Continental Airlines Arena | East Rutherford, New Jersey
Bus Trip

The Caps Road Crew got up really early in the morning so we could catch the bus to the Garden State for a matinee against the red-clad Devils. We had breakfast covered as the Crew faithful amassed a spread including numerous types of bagels and spreads, donuts, muffins, pastries, coffee, OJ, chips, and a case of bananas. Bellies full and ready for our trip into Continental Airlines Arena for the last time, the Crew descended on the half empty forum for an afternoon of great Caps hockey. Brent Johnson backstopped a 4-2 victory for the Caps, the first one in New Jersey since March 29, 2002.

Check out this video taken by one of our Road Crew faithful!

Trip Itinerary

The Garden State hosts the Washington Capitals as they take on the Devils at Continental Airlines Arena in possibly the last season of its existence. The Meadowlands will be treated to the awe-inspiring play of Alex Ovechkin and the rest of the good guys as they try yet again to break through the ever popular Devils’ trap defense.

Current plans: The Crew will be meeting at Springfield Mall (just off I-95 in Springfield, VA) at 7:00 am on Saturday the 24th and the bus will leave no later than 7:30 am. En route we will make a stop at the Forest Glen Metro on the Red Line in Silver Spring (Beltway exit 31A) at approximately 8:00 am. Be sure to drink your coffee! We’ll arrive in New Jersey around noon with plenty of time to make our presence known at warmups before the 1:00 pm opening faceoff. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area immediately following the game (expected arrival back in D.C. by 8:00 pm).

The cost of the trip is $80 per person (includes mezzanine level ticket and transportation). No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus and time constraints will most likely prevent us from making any stops on the way. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/tv units. In keeping with RoadCrew policy, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Ticket arrangements have been made and reservations are filling up fast. Please get your reservation in ASAP to guarantee your spot on the CRC Bus! Takin' the Midnight Train to Boston!

Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins
March 8, 2008 | TD Banknorth Garden | Boston, Massachusetts

The CapsRoadCrew made our first trip to Boston since 2001 a memorable one. Taking the overnight Amtrak up on Friday night and back on Saturday night, it was a brief but enjoyable stay in Beantown. No one knew what to expect after the 10-2 thumping the Caps suffered upon the boys from Boston the previous Monday in DC. It was a heck of a game, but the Bruins pleased the home crowd, winning 2-1.

Trip Itinerary

The CapsRoadCrew is taking the train to Boston to see the Caps take on the Bruins in an early afternoon matchup on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 1 pm.

The return Amtrak train (#67) does not depart Boston until 9:45 pm, giving us plenty of time for celebrating a Caps win in Beantown. The train will pull into Union Station in DC around 7 am on Sunday morning, allowing for those attending the 1 pm home game to make it with time to spare. The cost of the trip is $200 per person, which includes your lower bowl game ticket and train transportation. No extra fees or money over the cost of the train and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the train and the snack/party car will be open all night. Our first trip of the 07-08 season was a doozy! Hosted by the Flyers in a VIP suite, the Crew were treated to an overtime victory as birthday boy Nicklas Backstrom scored the goal that gave the Caps the 4-3 win. Just a few hours later, we sat behind the home team’s goal for a close game between the Phantoms and our very own Hershey Bears. The boys from chocolate town put up a hard effort, getting a 2-1 win and a sweep for the Crew!
