The first trip in our 2014-15 schedule took the Crew to sunny Florida to see the Caps play at the Amalie Center. Despite goals by Marcus Johansson, Eric Fehr, and Troy Brouwer, the Lightning proved the better team with a four-goal win.
Trip Itinerary
The CapsRoadCrew will be traveling to sunny Florida to visit Stevie Y’s Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:00pm on Saturday, November 1, 2014.

Current plans: On Saturday, November 1st, the Crew will gather in Tampa inside the Amalie Arena around 6:15 PM for warmups and the 7:00 PM drop of the puck. The cost per ticket to the game will be $60. Payment in full is required to reserve your ticket(s). No extra fees over the cost of the ticket will be charged. Because this game is so early in the season, all reservations need to be in and paid for by Oct 1st.

Info about the optional pregame happy hour get-together will be made available to guests or to others upon request.
All good things must inevitably come to an end. After ten trips in ten years to Giant Center, our unbeaten streak was ground to a halt under the weight of a 3-0 loss to the baby Flyers. Despite this we all had a fun time and enjoyed ourselves.
Trip Itinerary
The Caps Road Crew will be hitting the road by bus to the Giant Center to cheer on the Hershey Bears as they take on the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The CRC has made arrangements for bus transportation and lower level group tickets. (A very limited number of tickets aside from those with bus transportation are available at this time.)
Current plans: We’ll have a pickup in northern Virginia at Springfield Metro station at 12:30pm and one in Maryland at the Shady Grove Metro station (off I-270 & ICC) at approximately 1:00pm. We should arrive in Hershey by 3:30pm for lunch at the Bear’s Den in the Hershey Lodge before heading over to the arena at 6pm to catch warmups before the 7pm drop of the puck. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area as soon as possible following the game (expected arrival back at Shady Grove around midnight and Springfield Metro around 12:30am). Parking is available at both Metro stations and while the Metro will be open at the time for our departure, constantly changing WMATA schedules make their operation when we return questionable so plan accordingly. We are happy to assist with carpooling for those who need it.
All of our available spaces that include bus transportation will be $65 per person. No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). The bus is equipped with a restroom, electric outlets, free WiFi, and video/TV units.

All inquiries are responded to in the order they are received.

It was a scoreless game until Alex Ovechkin rocketed one past the Flyers goalie early in the 3rd period. Brayden Schenn would tie it up for the home team with a little over five minutes left in the period. Nothing happened in overtime, but the Flyers were able to best the Caps in a shootout. The final score was 2-1, Flyers.

The Roadies who travelled for this game were treated to a fairly one-sided tilt against long-time Bears rivals the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins. After our regular stop at the Bears’ Den at the Hershey Lodge, the high-scoring affair was the perfect cap to a fun day!

Our annual trip to the Garden State was a good one this year! We had enough time for a leisurely ride before being treated to a pretty evenly matched game. The score was tied through sixty minutes, and overtime wasn’t enough to determing the victor. But Alex Ovechkin’s third round shootout goal on Corey Schneider clinched the win for the Caps.

This season’s visit to the Garden was a doozy! Instead of our usual spot near the back of the lower bowl, we were able to acquire a suite upstairs, complete with snacks and drinks. We had plenty of seating for our group and our own private restroom, meaning we didn’t have to brave the madness of the concourses in the World’s Most Popular Arena. Add to that a stunning third period buzzer beater by Nicklas Backstrom to force overtime, and a game winner by Alex Ovechkin to push him that much closer to his 500th NHL goal, and it made for a very fun day!

Our first trip to the Islanders’ new digs was interesting to say the least. It’s without a doubt the oddest building we’ve visited. It was built for NBA basketball and concert performances, before they knew the Islanders would move there. So the sight lines for hockey are less than ideal. Still, our seats were good and we saw the Caps dominate the home team to the tune of a 4-1 win.

A small group of Roadies ventured north of the border for a weekend in Toronto, Ontario, the center of the hockey universe!
